Detectives by Robert Galbraith (Joanne Rowling) - Cormoran Strike series. A new detective story by J. K. Rowling has been released. J. K. Rowling detective stories.

While they continue to regularly appear on big screens, film adaptations of the writer’s “adult” novels have so far settled on small screens. Following this, another series produced by BBC One based on Rowling’s works was released - divided into chapters “Strike”.

After the memorable one, everyone has long been aware that Rowling writes detective stories about the private detective Cormoran Strike under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith - and for her this is a kind of art therapy. Tired of magic and wizards (so much so that the author of Harry Potter entrusted the play to outside playwrights), the British writer decided to go beyond the confines of the witchcraft circle. But since her books are famous not only for their social satire, but also for their action-packed plots, Rowling continues to focus on exciting storytelling even outside of fairy tales. And the detective genre is her main assistant in this.

In three years (from 2013 to 2015), Rowling released three novels about Cormoran Strike and his charming, savvy assistant Robin Ellacott: , and . All three books were promptly filmed - and are now being released one after another on BBC One. A total of seven episodes will be shown about Strike’s various cases. So “The Cuckoo’s Calling” is dedicated to the investigation into the murder of supermodel Lula Landry, “The Silkworm” is about the disappearance of the scandalous writer Owen Quine, and the bloodiest part of “In the Service of Evil” is about the search for the Shacklewell Ripper.

However, in addition to the detective component, the most valuable and hard currency of “Strike” remains the psychological portraits of the characters, everyday sketches from their lives, and the relationships between the characters. After reading the books, the series in this sense may seem somewhat concise - it would have benefited from a slightly more impressive runtime than a Spartan-restrained season of two or three episodes. Before you have time to taste the story, it is already over. This is generally characteristic feature productions based on JK Rowling: on screen they often cower like pebbled leather and lose artistic weight if they are taken on not by talented directors like Alfonso Cuaron, but by craftsmen of the level of David Yates and television people.

Trailer "The Cuckoo's Calling"

It's no secret that the bad staging ruined it: the directors so diligently smoothed out all the corners that a truly rough and angry work turned into a good-natured bun. The advantage of “Strike” is that, compared with the same “Vacancy” (and even more so with “Harry Potter”), it is not initially a masterpiece, but a work of interesting average achievements in its own way. Therefore, its film adaptation looks the same - before us is a good serial normcore. In this weight category, the show looks good - not least thanks to the glorious main characters.

In the series, Cormoran and Robin are played by handsome British actors Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger. It may seem that they were given the roles according to some special Hogwarts quota - Burke's godfather is Alan Rickman from Harry Potter, and Holliday, like Hermione, has the last name Granger - but this is not so.

They fit well into the characters written by Rowling - the actress Granger is especially worth noting. Her Robin should be exactly like this - not beautiful, but attractive, not brilliant, but smart. The situation is a little more complicated with Cormoran - a legless Afghan veteran, the son of a rock star, who turned into a detective. According to Rowling, this is “a real bruiser, tall, overgrown, like a grizzly bear, and even with a paunch; looks like a loser boxer, not a penny of attractiveness, age - over forty, and even pubic hair.” Burke, who plays him - the handsome Dolokhov from the recent British - does not look brutal enough for this role, despite his characteristic multi-day stubble. Even behind his flabby appearance, it is difficult for him to hide his attractiveness. However, through his isolation, a strange sense of humor and no less peculiar manners, he quite accurately conveys the essence of his character.

This is important because the chemistry between Cormoran and Robin is where the lion's share of the charm of Rowling's detective stories is built. They are the framework of this story, like the relationship of Harry, Ron and Hermione for the Potter series. Strike, like Batman, not only finds a loyal partner named Robin, but also an ideal partner. Thanks to the support of her boss, Robin eventually finally honestly admits to herself that she really wants to do detective work. But one cannot help but notice that in addition to friendly relations with each episode, the characters begin to be more and more attracted to each other - and this is a completely understandable love attraction (Robin’s fiancé is a rare snob, and Strike’s ex is a terrible bitch), because the characters so often encounter simple and understandable human problems, which makes them closer not only to each other, but also to us - the audience.

In Russia, a novel called “Deadly Whiteness” will appear in early 2019

This is the fourth book in the series about detective Cormoran Strike, created by Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. New novel called "Deadly White". In Russia the book is expected at the beginning 2019 year, it will be published by the Azbuka publishing house.

Everything became known when the editor of the Sunday Times newspaper conducted a linguistic investigation and contacted Rowling's agent, who confirmed her authorship. Sales of the detective story immediately increased. JK Rowling's short motivational speech to Harvard graduates has been turned into a book. In it, Rowling talks about the need to persevere through failure and how it will be beneficial in the long run. The writer also notes how important it is to develop imagination.

However, the performance, when it was transferred to paper, lost its luster. This book will not reveal America to you, but it is beautifully designed. If you are an ardent fan of Rowling, this edition will decorate your library.

Rowling Joan Kathleen is a name known to all lovers of magic and good literature. It would seem that what else is needed: the series of books about Harry Potter brings fame and impressive income, all that remains is to release another volume every few years. But that was not the case, and detective JK Rowling appears on store shelves under a pseudonym.

"The Cuckoo's Calling", unlike the famous "Harry Potter", was received in the world without noise and applause, but with affectionate approval from critics. But the noise still appeared, a little later, when the same critics noticed the similarity of the detective story with the writer’s debut “adult” book, “A Chance Encounter.” Rumors have appeared that “The Cuckoo’s Calling” is not the work of the novice writer Robert Galbraith. Moreover, this is just a fictitious name, and is hidden under a pseudonym -. And as if by magic, the book’s ratings increased noticeably, and “GP” fans began to look for parallels with their favorite characters.

“That’s exactly what I was afraid of,” JK Rowling justifies her pseudonym. The writer admits that she dreamed of receiving the most sincere feedback, and she wanted this moment to drag on. But this was not destined to come true. After a thorough investigation by journalists, detective JK Rowling gained legal authorship. It is curious that in one of the magazines Joan said that the pseudonym Robert Galbraith can be translated as “famous stranger,” that is, “famous stranger.”

The plot of the detective story is much simpler than everything that happened to him; the writer decided to come down from heaven to earth and talk about the real, not the magical world. The book is about private detective Cormoran Strike and his temporary assistant investigating the suicide of a supermodel. You can learn more about this “charming detective story,” as critics have crowned it, only by reading, as Rowling always does, from cover to cover.
