Here we are busy decorating Perm for Victory Day. And if the design solutions were unanimously approved by the organizing committee, then with the holiday motto everything is not so simple. Today, the next meeting of the city organizing committee to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory took place, one of the main topics of which was the discussion of the proposed slogans. The short list included the following options: “We swear to remember!”, “Perm. Everything for Victory”, “Perm is a component of Victory”.
I like the option “Perm is a component of Victory.” I consider this slogan to be the most modern, universal, brief, succinct and sonorous motto. It is intended to emphasize that the Great Victory is not the merit of certain people, territories and enterprises. Every person who fought on the front line in those years or worked selflessly in the rear made their contribution. One of the components was the people and enterprises of the Kama region, who made a significant contribution to the cause of Victory. The motto accurately reflects the essence: Perm did no more for victory, but no less than other regions, but without Perm’s contribution, victory would have been impossible. This slogan could well form the basis of the federal celebration of Victory Day: “Moscow is the component of victory,” “Volgograd is the component of victory,” “Ekaterinburg is the component of victory.”
The following options were also considered: “Perm is a city of heroes!”, “Victory in every Perm heart”, “We honor the valor of our fellow countrymen”, “Perm. Land of courage and labor”, “Victory is you!”, “Remembered by all generations!” and more, more, more. Most of them seem to me either overly pathetic, or too general, or not entirely understandable. Returning to the corporate style, it is worth saying that it is based on the image of a letter from the front. Recognizable triangle letters are still carefully kept in many families. Receiving such letters, and not official envelopes with funerals, meant joyful news for the recipients. Front-line letters were written in the heat and cold by the tired hands of soldiers who did not let go of their weapons. These documents retain the hot breath of battle and are not subject to time. The inscriptions use a font stylized as handwritten text, and postmarks from the war are used in the design. 
During the war, field mail daily brought letters to Perm and sent back letters to and from the front, from which people learned about the approaching victory. And not only letters - during the war years, the workers of the Kama region sent 170 wagons with warm clothes and 280 with holiday gifts to the front. Each of these parcels, each of the letters sent are components of victory. 
The compositions use black and white photographs from the war years, including from the funds of the Perm state archive modern history. The use of these photographs is intended to demonstrate the contribution to the victory of workers of Perm enterprises, soldiers called up from our city, nurses and combatants trained here.
