Czech Agricultural University in Prague. Czech Agricultural University (ČZU) Czech Agricultural University in Prague reviews

The history of the formation of the Agricultural University in Prague (CZU) dates back to 1906. Initially, one faculty was founded at technical university in the Czech Republic, where both scientific and research activities... The process of forming the future university was stopped due to the outbreak of the First World War, but a significant rise after its end immediately pushed the process of establishing the university to a new level.

Over the past few years, the Czech Agrotechnical University has turned into a modern complex of knowledge and has become practically a "student city" with its own developed infrastructure: hostels, canteens, restaurants, parks, libraries, lounges, shops, new classrooms equipped with the most modern technology, laboratories and greenhouses. Constantly expanding the areas of study of subjects, the university began to pay great attention to aspects of ecology, to train qualified managers in the field of economics and management of agriculture and National economy, as well as the study of the activities of international organizations. Higher education annually educational institution offers the study of the chosen specialty on the basis of the three-stage * Bologna agreement, offering:

  • 34 training bachelor programs,
  • 49 master's degree programs,
  • 19 programs for those wishing to obtain a doctoral degree.

* The Bologna Agreement or the Bologna Process is a process of convergence and harmonization of educational systems of European countries with the aim of creating a common European space higher education... The main goal of which is the establishment of a European higher education zone, as well as the activation of the European higher education system on a global scale. One of the key provisions of the Bologna process is the adoption of a system of comparable degrees, including through the introduction of a diploma supplement to provide employment opportunities for European citizens and increase the international competitiveness of the European higher education system.

Another incomparable advantage of the CZU is the Double-degree program - the student receives 2 diplomas: the Czech Agricultural University and one of the partner universities in England, France or the Netherlands. At the same time, the student studies at a partner university for six months or a year.

The Czech Agricultural University in Prague is also a member of international consortia. First of all, we are talking about seven leading European universities active in the field of wildlife sciences, called Euroleague for Life Sciences. Also, ChZU is a member of the Association for European Life Sciences Universities (70 universities and faculties working in a direction similar to the ChZU). The Czech Agricultural University is also a member of the European Association of Universities and the Danube Rectors' Conference.

Under the student exchange program, every fifth full-time student of the ChZU travels abroad. In terms of the number of outgoing and incoming students under the ERASMUS program, the Czech Agricultural University is among the first 200 universities in Europe. Since 2000, students from 125 countries of the world have studied at the ChZU.

Attention! The Czech Agricultural University in Prague offers foreign applicants admission without exams and nostrification of a school certificate to the Faculty of Economics! Entrance exams are taken after the first year of study in courses combined with the first year program and students immediately go to the second year. Nostrification also needs to be conveyed before the transition to the second course. Training in this program is paid, as it takes place on English language... Many classes are taught by native speakers. Students have the opportunity to leave for the ERASMUS program and receive a Double-degree. An important point is the provision of a certificate of proficiency in English.

CZU offers training in six faculties.

For such a long time, the Czech Agricultural University (ČZU) celebrated its 100th anniversary. The educational institution, which is one of the three largest universities in Prague, is characterized by a modern approach to educational process and a powerful scientific and technical base.

History

The origins of the creation of CHAU lie in the distant 1906, when the agrarian faculty was founded at the National Technical University by order of Emperor Franz Joseph. His active scientific and research activities led to the need to separate into an independent educational institution... So, in 1952, the Faculty of Agriculture was reorganized into Prague University agriculture, and in 1995 the educational institution received its modern official name.

Before the construction of a huge campus in Sukhdola, a northwestern district of Prague, the academic buildings were located in. In the early 60s, it became necessary to create a campus that could accommodate not only dormitories, but also numerous laboratories and workshops related to the specifics of practical training at the university.

Today, the CHOU campus covers an area of about 50 hectares, on which everything you need for successful study and good rest is located. It includes student residences, state-of-the-art educational buildings, large lecture halls, a conference room, an extensive library, a well-kept park and a sports complex. In addition, the campus has a bank branch, cafes, several restaurants and clubs.

Educational activities

Annually in Czech agrotechnical university more than 18 thousand students study in 140 specialties. Free education in the Czech language is possible both in undergraduate and graduate and postgraduate studies. Since the university actively supports international relations and various student exchange programs, a number of specialties are studied in English (tuition is paid).

There are five faculties and one institute in the structure of the university. The oldest of them is the technical one, which arose at the founding of the educational institution and was then still called the mechanical faculty. Two more faculties - Environment and Forestry and Woodworking, emerged as a result of the separation in 2007 of the Faculty of Environmental Protection. The Faculty of Economics of the University graduates specialists in management and economic planning of national and agriculture. The Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources prepares qualified livestock breeders, agronomists, gardeners, as well as specialists in the field of natural resource conservation, processing and disposal of industrial waste. Most of the graduates of the Faculty of Tropical Agriculture work outside the Czech Republic, specializing in the problems of farming in developing countries.

CHAU is widely integrated into international educational communities that unite universities with a similar specialization in natural sciences... This cooperation led to the creation of a separate Institute for Consulting and Educational Issues, which is responsible for programs for the development of international relations with foreign universities and organizations.

The prestigious educational institution is not only a leader among Czech agricultural universities, but also occupies high positions in the ranking of the best European universities. Excellent student employment rates, qualified Teaching Staff and a strong practical base contribute to the fact that thousands of Czech and foreign applicants dream of enrolling here.

Czech Agricultural University Prague was founded in 1952. It is now the third largest university in Prague, in 2016 at a university under various curricula 12,168 undergraduate students and 6,975 graduate students were trained in specialties. The rector of the university for 2018 is Petr Sklenichka.

The University is actively involved in research activities. The work of university employees is published in world famous journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. The Czech Agricultural University offers almost 30 doctoral programs, in which students acquire knowledge not only in research, but also in teaching. For research purposes, ChZU receives grants from the state, private investors, and international projects play an important role. To increase the motivation of researchers, the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague awards the Rector's Prize for the best publications of employees every year. Also, the university once a year awards the Rector's Prize for the best dissertation.

Organization of training

Czech Agricultural University offers a large number of bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs. In addition to classical agricultural and forestry specialties, students study in a wide range of programs in the field of environmental protection and natural resources, economics and management, technology and informatics. The training uses modern methods such as e-learning and video conferencing, a lot of attention is paid to practice, including overseas. According to the university's own research, 97% of graduates get a job or continue their studies. Most young people work in their specialty, dozens of graduates find work abroad.

ČZU is one of the few universities in the Czech Republic, whose campus has its own park, which is used by students and staff, as well as residents of the nearby district of Prague - Sukhdol. In the area of the university, everything necessary for students is organized - dormitories, canteens, conditions for sports and recreation, as well as, of course, modern lecture halls, laboratories, auditoriums for seminars, greenhouses, libraries.

International relations

V modern world, in the context of globalization, mobility plays an increasing role. Mobility at the Czech Agricultural University is manifested primarily in exchange programs both for CZU students who have the opportunity to study abroad for some time, and for foreign students who study in CZU. Currently, more than 900 students from all over the world come to the university annually for semester or annual exchange programs or for short-term intensive courses such as summer schools. Together with them, almost two thousand foreign students study at the Czech Agricultural University.

ChZU uses the results of its research activities in Haiti and other developing countries, thereby helping the development of agriculture in countries with a lack of food resources.

In addition to international networks, the Czech Agricultural University has concluded bilateral agreements with more than 80 universities outside Europe. Directly in Europe, within the framework of the LLP ERASMUS program, the university has concluded agreements with more than 150 universities. The university is also a member of the TEMPUS and CEEPUS programs.

Participation in international programs and projects promotes cooperation between participating universities, their students and teachers. That is why a third of CZU programs are taught entirely in English. The Czech Agricultural University in Prague also implements dozens of double-degree programs together with leading foreign partners in Europe. On the basis of the university, summer intensive courses are held in exotic countries such as Peru or Vietnam, and CZU students can study in these countries.

Every fifth full-time student of ChZU travels abroad for exchange programs. In terms of the number of outgoing and incoming students under the LLP ERASMUS program, the Czech Agricultural University is among the first 200 universities in Europe (there are about 4,000 universities in Europe in total).
