Unfortunately, today, without a strong and reliable air defense system, no state, including Belarus, can ensure its security in the air. Therefore, the President and the Government of the Republic of Belarus, despite the economic difficulties, are doing everything possible to maintain the country's air defense at the proper level.
Currently, priority is given to the modernization of weapons and military equipment of the air defense forces, the purchase of modern anti-aircraft missile systems.
Domestic enterprises have developed and delivered to the troops automated control systems "Bor", "Polyana-RB", "Rif-R". As part of the 120th anti-aircraft missile brigade, a full-fledged division of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system has been created, which has shown its high efficiency in the course of combat training activities. The 377th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment entered service with two S-300 anti-aircraft missile divisions. The radio-technical troops continue to receive the modern Rosa radar station and the Vostok-D radar system of domestic production. The purchase of new radar stations is planned.
Formations and military units of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces are equipped with everything necessary - this is confirmed by the results of various exercises and trainings. A striking example is last year's joint exercise with live firing "Combat Commonwealth - 2015", during which the combat crews of the 15th and 120th anti-aircraft missile brigades showed excellent results.
In January 2016, the 740th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade underwent a test of the ability to perform tasks as intended. More than 100 servicemen were called up from the reserve, a tactical exercise with live firing of an anti-aircraft missile battalion was conducted at the 174th training ground of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces. The results of the check showed that the brigade is capable of performing the assigned tasks.

In December 2012, a contract was signed for the supply of Yak-130 aircraft to the Air Force and Air Defense Forces in 2015, which will significantly expand the possibilities for training flight personnel. Working in automatic mode, it is capable of detecting and recognizing air targets at an altitude of one meter above the ground in a radius of up to 50 km, detecting not only manned, but also unmanned aerial vehicles.
The modernized P-18BM and PRV-16 BM radars, due to the use of modern technical solutions, made it possible to increase the accuracy characteristics, the level of protection against active and passive interference, and the operational reliability of these stations to the level of modern radars. Almost all modernization works are carried out at the enterprises of the Republic of Belarus.
In order to restore the resource of weapons and military equipment, overhaul of a number of samples of aviation equipment, weapons of anti-aircraft missile and radio-technical troops is carried out.
